WhatsApp Messenger took a bit of criticism when it introduced the Snapchat-like stories feature earlier this year, but a couple of new features which have now been leaked sound much more promising. As per @WABetainfo, who posted on twitter about the same, WhatsApp is currently testing a new feature which will allow users to Change the number and notify all the concerned contacts automatically. The feature is being tested on WhatsApp beta version 2.17.130 for Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile OS only. However, we expect WhatsApp to shift its focus to Android and iOS soon. Moreover, this feature will save a lot of time for those who change their WhatsApp number quite often. Previously, the most common practice would be sending a broadcast message to everyone in you want to inform about your new number.
WABetainfo claims that the feature is disabled by default and one can activate it by going into the settings. Further, another tweet from WABetainfo reveals that the company is testing the Live Location sharing feature as well. This particular feature is being tested on the beta version 2.17.150 and is again disabled by default. Interestingly, a similar feature was recently rolled out on Google Maps and Facebook where one can share his/her live location with friends. Note that just like Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile, WhatsApp is first expected to bring these features to beta version which is not as stable as the final version.
Meanwhile, the same user (WABetainfo) also revealed that WhatsApp is, indeed, working on message ‘revoke’ or ‘unsend’ feature. The user posted that there have been ‘many improvements for the revoke feature & you’ll be able to unsend messages sent within 5 minutes’. He also revealed that the feature is disabled by default. This will be a great addition for someone who is always a victim of sending the wrong message to the wrong person. This will also prevent any problems for those who are prone to drunk messaging to people. All these valid reasons would be a good support for the main reason . Going back on promises made through Whatsapp.
